Download & Setup

Download the client, add the required asset patch, set the realm address and log in.

Download the HD client

Download the recommended WotLK 3.3.5a HD client. It includes every language and HD models, is ready to play, and is about 40 GB. The main download is a torrent; qBittorrent works well.

Open the .torrent and wait for it to reach 100%. The official HD client Discord also has downloads and support.

Move the game folder

There is no installer. Move the downloaded folder somewhere permanent, such as C:\Games\WoW. The folder that contains Wow.exe is your game folder for the steps below.

Install the required asset patch 0.32.1-r2

Download asset patch 0.32.1-r2 (Google Drive)

Close Wow.exe completely.
Extract the ZIP directly into the game folder—the same folder that contains Wow.exe. Allow Windows to merge the Data and Interface folders and replace the previous Wardrobe patch files.
Put the Z patch in the folder for your client language:
- English (enUS): no changes are needed. Leave it at Data/enUS/patch-enUS-Z.MPQ.
- Another language: move the file into that language folder and rename the locale code. For example, Chinese uses Data/zhCN/patch-zhCN-Z.MPQ.
- After moving it, delete the original enUS copy.
Confirm this file exists: Interface/AddOns/CoAWardrobeHD/CoAWardrobeHD.toc
Delete the Cache folder once. Start the game, enable CoA Wardrobe HD on the AddOns screen, then use /wardrobe in game.

Set the realm address (two files)

Change both files below. The HD client will not connect if you change only one.

4a. The realmlist file

Open Data/enUS/realmlist.wtf (or the same file in your locale folder) and replace everything inside with:

set realmlist logon.onlyfunswow.com

4b. The login screen file

Open Interface/loginui. Find the ServerList section and change its Host line to:

["Host"] = "logon.onlyfunswow.com"

Save both files.

Create an account and play

Create your account, then run Wow.exe and log in with your account name and password.

Already have the original 3.3.5a client?

A stock WotLK 3.3.5a client needs only the realmlist edit below; it does not have the HD client’s loginui file. Open Data/enUS/realmlist.wtf (or your language’s folder) in a text editor and replace its contents with:

set realmlist logon.onlyfunswow.com

Asset patch 0.32.1-r2 was built and tested with the recommended HD client. A stock client may connect, but it will be missing custom models and the Wardrobe addon, so it is not supported for this release.

Save, launch the game, and log in.

Optional patch: Undead Paladin & Dwarf Shaman

This optional 6 KB patch enables Undead Paladin and Dwarf Shaman at character creation and fixes their profession window, spellbook tabs and chat language. It is fully compatible with the required asset patch—install and keep both files. Skip it if you do not play either combination.

Close the game, then download the file for your language: patch-enUS-Y.MPQ for English clients, patch-zhCN-Y.MPQ for Chinese clients.
Copy it into Data/enUS (English) or Data/zhCN (Chinese)—the same folder as realmlist.wtf. For another locale such as enGB, rename only the locale code, for example patch-enGB-Y.MPQ.
Keep both files. An English client should have patch-enUS-Y.MPQ and patch-enUS-Z.MPQ in Data/enUS. Start the game; the new race/class choices will appear.

Install it on every computer you play from. To remove this optional patch later, delete only the Y file and keep the required Z file. Your characters remain safe on the server.
